It happens on almost every call. The patient I’m talking to gets a little bit quiet. They pause. They start talking and hesitate. They say, “I wanted to ask you….. um…. what about CBDs for fibromyalgia?”
It feels like a taboo subject — one they might get in trouble for asking about. Yet, it’s something nearly all chronic pain patients are curious about. They’re curious and don’t know where to go to find out more.
What are CBDs?
CBDs are a type of cannabinoid (cannabidiol), which is a compound found in hemp and cannabis (marijuana). CBDs are non-psychoactive—which is a fancy way of saying that it won’t get you high. CBDs extracted from cannabis may or may not be legal where you live, depending on your marijuana laws. However, CBDs extracted from hemp are much more readily available.
Why use CBDs for fibromyalgia?
In her book, The FibroManual, Dr. Ginevra Liptan spends a whole chapter discussing the role that cannabinoids, such as CBD, can play in reducing fibromyalgia symptoms (Chapter 21). Here are a few of the benefits she mentions:
- Pain relief
- Improved sleep, including the amount of time spent in deep sleep
- Anti-inflammatory
- Enhanced relaxation and a sense of well-being
I’ve also heard of patients who have found it improved their digestion, reduced anxiety and depression, and much more.

Will CBDs help you?
For some of my clients, adding a CBD product to their treatment plan has literally changed their lives. One client who was previously unable to work, is now back to doing the job she loves. Another client is finally getting better sleep.
Will it work for you? I absolutely believe that it’s worth trying. Every fibromyalgia patient is unique for what works and what doesn’t. I’ve never had a client have a bad reaction to a CBD-only product, like those produced by Every Day Optimal. And hey, if you can win it free or get it at a discount, what do you have to lose?
